Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Release Date: New Device To Feature All-Metal Exterior, Will Be Available in 2016

Mobile Dad, a tech website based in China, has disclosed on Tuesday that Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is scheduled to be released in early 2016. Rumors say that the upcoming device will become the successor of Mi Note Pro. The device is expected to feature a metal design, which is a departure to the usual glass build of the series, a report from iDigital Times said.

"The Mi Note Pro is one of the best devices that Xiaomi has released in terms of specifications. According to prolific leaker Leaksfly, the Mi Note 2 will continue the tradition of featuring top-of-the-line specifications and features for a comparatively affordable price compared to the flagship devices of rival smartphone manufacturing companies," Tech Times said.

According to the report, Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is expected to feature a 5.7-inch display with 1440 x 2560 resolution. The device will be equipped with 4 GB RAM and an internal memory storage capacity of 32 GB. The phone's rear camera is rumored to be 16 MP, and the device will reportedly be powered by Google's Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The device will also feature ultrasonic fingerprint scanner technology developed by Qualcom, according to reports.

"It is also rumored that the Mi Note 2 will have a full metal body, along with 4G LTE support. The metallic body would make it look stronger and more premium compared to previous devices launched by Xiaomi, further adding to the possibility that the device can legitimately challenge the flagship devices of more prominent brands such as Apple."

iDigital Times has noted that other online reports suggest that Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will feature a physical home button. However, all speculations about the device should be taken with a "grain of salt" unless otherwise confirmed by the company.
