Google's 2015 Nexus phone was just released this September, and this time it was made by Huawei. The "Huawei Nexus 6P" is a successor to last year's "Nexus 6" made by Motorola. But what exactly are the improvements in this year's launch? Let't compare the details.

There is only a slight difference between the two phone's dimensions. The "Nexus 6 2014" measures 6.27 x 3.27 x 0.4 inches, while the "Nexus 6P 2015" measures 6.27 x 3.06 x 0.29 inches. Both phones uses AMOLED capacitive screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. The "Motorola Nexus 6" has 493 ppi and the "Huawei Nexus 6P" has 518 ppi. For the two phones' crystal protection, last year's flagship uses Corning Gorilla Glass 3 while this year's release uses Corning Gorilla Glass 4, oleophobic coating.

The two Google smartphones uses different Android versions, "Nexus 6" uses Lollipop v5.0 while "Nexus 6P" uses the latest version of Marshmallow v6.0. "Moto Nexus 6" uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset while "Huawei Nexus 6P" uses a Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810. For the two flagship's CPU, last year's phone uses Quad core 2.7 GHz Krait 450 while last month's release uses Quad core 1.55 GHz Cortex A53 and Quad core 2.0 GHz Cortex A57.

As Google leans towards cardless phones, both of their Nexus smartphones do not have an external card slot. Both the "Motorola Nexus 6" and "Huawei Nexus 6P" have 3 GB of RAM. The "Nexus 6" has 32 GB and 64 GB variants while the "Nexus 6P" has 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB variants.

Last year's primary camera is a 13 MP camera with 4128 x 3096 pixels, it features autofocus, optical image stabilization, and dual LED flash. This year's "Google Nexus 6P" on the other hand only has a 12 MP primary camera with 4608 x 2592 pixels with laser autofocus and dual LED flash. Although last year's camera features seems better than the recent release, "Google Nexus 6" is being held back by its 2 MP selfie snapper. The "2015 Nexus 6P" has a better front cam with 8 megapixels.

"Motorola Nexus 6" uses a non removable LiPo 3220 mAh battery while the "Huawei Nexus 6P" uses a LiPo 3450 mAh battery which is also non removable. According to GSMarena, the "Nexus 6 2014" has a battery endurance rating of 70 hours, while no tests has been announced for the "Nexus 6P" just yet.

Last year's phone came in two colors, the midnight blue and the cloud white. This year's release on the other hand comes in three, the aluminum, graphite, and frost. "Motorola Nexus 6 2014" features wireless charging while the "Huawei Nexus 6P" do not have this feature. Google did explain why they did this, saying that the thickness isn't worth it. They say that they had rather opted for the Type C reversible connector that allows for fast charging instead of going wireless.

Last year's phone was water resistant but for this year's "Nexus 6P", Google did not mention anything about the phone's waterproofness. However, the "Nexus 6P" does have a fingerprint scanner which the "Nexus 6" doesn't have.

Based on all the comparison factors between the two phones, it looks like you can go either way. Both phones are great, you just have to decide which extra features you need in your life. If you're a selfie taker, the 2 MP "Nexus 6 2014" won't amaze you, you would have to go for this year's flagship instead. But if you're a drink spiller, you might have to reconsider buying the "Nexus 6P 2015" and go for its predecessor instead. It is also a battle between wireless charging and fast charging. But overall, both the "Motorola Nexus 6" and the "Huawei Nexus 6P" are great phones with the slightest differences.
