'Star Wars: Return of the Jedi' Princess Leia Bikini Sells for $96,000

Who would have thought at a bikini can cost up to $96,000 or £63,220? Princess Leia's bikini which was worn by Carrie Fisher in "Return if the Jedi" was sold at a stunning amount. The bikini is made with a "flexible, gold painted ref dense-urethane rubber". As per BBC News, the bidding for the costume started at $80,000 at an online auction which was run by US firm Profiles in History.

The highest bidder that was unnamed got the collar and chain links along with "a letter of authenticity" from the "Star Wars" designer himself Richard Miller.

The bikini may have impressed fans, but Carrie Fisher disliked the outfit stating that it is "what supermodels will eventually wear in the seventh ring of hell."

During her Rolling Stone interview, Fisher also stated that Leia's character changed as "She gets to be more feminine, more supportive, more affectionate. But let's not forget that these movies are basically boys' fantasies. So the other way they made her more female in this one was to have her take off her clothes."

The iconic "Star Wars" bikini was used in several photo shoots including the rolling Stones cover in which Fisher wore it to promote "Return of the Jedi". Her waxwork form Madame Tussauds also featured the bikini.

The bikini may have cost thousands, but it was not however the most popular "Star Wars" item that was auctioned, in fact, it was a miniature model of Princess Leia's Blockade Runner known as a CR90 Corvette. The first flying ship that was seen in a Star Wars film sold for $450,00 which a a record for the highest bid for a "Star Wars" artifact.

"Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens" is set to premiere on December 18, 2015. Screen Rant then made additional reports stating that "Star Wars VIII" is currently on it way in adding two additional female casts.
