Pop Star Sia Flips Los Feliz Odd House for $5M

Bianca Barragan reported in Curbed L.A. that wig-sporting Australian singer and songwriter Sia has popped back on the market her Los Feliz residence, which she acquired more than just three months ago.

The house, designed by architect AF Leicht who is famous for his unusual designs, measures 5,161 square feet and has five bedrooms and five bathrooms. It lies on a .35-acre compound.

The stylish 1924 property, with elaborate woodwork elements, stained glass and "time-honored light fixtures," initially appeared to fit the artistic personality of the "Chandelier" singer, but as things have turned out recently, apparently it does not.

Mark David describes in Variety that compared to previous listings and photographs, the "charismatic mix of Mediterranean Revival and Art Nouveau styles" over three floors has retained much of its architectural details, although with some alterations in the house's interiors, such as the wood floors for the entire structure were lightened, and the brand new kitchen was made almost all white with its vintage range, as well as thickly veined slab marble counter tops were installed. Almost everything in the house, including majority of the window frames and the tiled floor in the circular foyer and staircase, have been made predominantly white.

On its terraced grounds are courtyards, balconies and patios surrounded by flourishing plants and windy paths. There is also a flat spread of grass, a waterfall with a rock-lined riverbed and a swimming pool, described in the listing as a "destination spa" set below the house.

Sia and her documentary film-maker husband, Erik Anders Lang, bought the house for $4.7 million months ago, and now they are selling it for $4.995 million. According to David, the pop icon owns a smaller 1930s bungalow in adjacent Echo Park which she acquired in 2012 for $890,000, as well as a compound in Palm Springs she picked in 2013 for $1.646 million.

Sia is a multi-awarded and nominated musical performer by various award-giving bodies. For 2015 alone, she received four Grammy nominations.
