Update: Martin Zweig’s Pierre Penthouse Officially Listed for $125 Million; NYC’s Most Expensive Listing

After weeks of speculations, late financial expert, Martin Zweig's penthouse atop the Pierre Hotel on Fifth Avenue has been listed for $125 million, the same price that was being talked about, making it the most expensive listing of the city.

The listing has officially been made public and fresh photos of the interiors have also been revealed.

The official listing lies with Sotheby's. Check out the fresh photos, here.

The $125 million price tag beats the asking price of billionaire, Steven Cohen's $115 million for his condo in the Bloomberg Tower in Manhattan. Jaws dropped recently when Cohen purchased a $60 million water-front home in east Hampton on Long Island.

Anyhow, according to the listing records and the floor plan, the home is a 12,000 square feet triplex penthouse condo atop the Pierre Hotel Building and has a total of 16 rooms. The residence has approximately five proper bedrooms and seven full bathrooms, three large party rooms and an additional maid's room with an attached bathroom.

The triplex residence is spread across the 41, 42 and 43 stories of the building. Private elevators open into the lowermost floor leading into a foyer. The foyer opens into a gallery that gives access to the various atria of the floor. A dining room, living room, a library, two bedrooms, the maid's quarters and two receptions complete the floor.

Giant staircases lead to the second floor where the renowned 2800 square feet grand salon exists. A master bedroom, a sitting room and four terraces on each corner of the floor complete the second level.

The third floor has a huge ballroom and two bedrooms facing the north and the south of the building. Both the bedrooms have large walk-in dressing closets. The floor also has a sauna.

Building amenities include 24/7 concierge services, doorman/ attendant facilities, a modern fitness center and elite hotel services as well.

Zweig set a record when he purchased the home in 1999 for a whopping $21.5 million. The home was initially put on the Multiple Listing Service in 2003 with a price tag of $7 million, which was taken off the market in 2008.

Zweig passed away on his Fisher Island home in Florida on Feb. 18, 2013. He was 70. His death was announced by his firm, Zweig-DiMenna Associates. Zweig only made one real estate transaction in his life. The Pierre Building penthouse was the most expensive purchase in the history of New York at that time and if it now sells for the asking price, it will go down in the history of NYC for being the priciest sale, ever!
