'PS4' Price Drop: Is Target's Current PS4 Site Promo Mean a Huge Console Price Drop?

Recently, the Xbox boss Phil Spencer has expressed optimism that the Sony will also drop PlayStation 4 prices in the West like it did in Japan.

Spencer said via IGN, "I fully expect they [PlayStation] will drop price. When I think about the playbook they've used in the past, we feel good about the plans we have in place going forward in the holiday. If history tells, then we'll see a price drop from them coming.

"It's great for gamers when price competition happens. We saw that last holiday, and we saw crazy sales numbers on all of the consoles."

No announcement was made by Sony but it looks like it is indeed bound to happen in other markets after the PS4 seemed to have remain at the same price for two years since it was launched in November 2013 at the price of $400.

Even if there is no official word from Sony yet, it has been reported that Target is running a promotion that is nearly similar to getting a discount on PS4. According to Gamespot.com, the retailer's site suggests a $50 price drop in the US for its PlayStation 4 500GB Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection Bundle. It may not be a price slash per se but with purchase, the buyer gets a $50 gift card.

In Japan, the said price drop will take effect on October 31, according to Design and Trend. By then, the PlayStation 4 console will cost 34,980 yen. The price cut is nearly 12% or $42 less the original price.

Sony has not made any comment regarding the promotion at Target.com. It is said that Sony's next announcement event will be the Paris Game Show later this month. Would you be interested to buy a PS4 console if it gets a $50 discount?
