Fictional Hogwarts Castle Value Estimated at $204 Million

Harry Potter Fans hold on to your real estate "Thestrals" because Hogwarts just got a brick and mortar value estimate. The famed fictional school of witchcraft and wizardry, if made real, would most likely fetch around $204,102,000!

According to the Daily News, real estate expert and blogger, David Cross calculated the value of the school after analyzing the price per square feet and the size of the building. To arrive at the size, numerous hard-core "Potterheads" were consulted and similar sized buildings were compared.

The scale model of Hogwarts at the Warner Bros. Studio in London acted as the blueprint for the calculation. Additionally, the distance travelled by Harry on the Hogwarts Express from London and the amount of sunlight caught on the camera while filming the movies were also considered.

Here are the nitty gritties of the estimate and some other assumptions used to arrive at the conclusion:

-In the real world, Hogwarts would probably be located in Galloway Hills in Scotland.

- Hogwarts sits on a 27.7 acre land.

- Hogwarts has a total of 280 students and there would be around 20 students per classroom.

- Hogwarts has seven floors, excluding the ground floor.

- Each classroom is around 1000 square feet and each floor comprises of around 51,000 square feet.

However, the cost and square footage estimate have been concluded without taking into account, the Room of Requirement, the moving giant staircases, the Chamber of Secrets and the other mystical aspects of the school. The Quidditch field and Hagrid's shack were also excluded. Other un-evaluated areas include the dormitories, the Great Hall, staff offices, the kitchen area etc.

While some people have called the valuation a commendable effort, Potter fans are not very happy with it and have called the estimate "an undervaluation".
