‘Halo 5: Guardians’ Release Date & Gameplay: Map Editor ‘Forge Mode’ Slated To Be Released This December

Earlier this week, software giant Microsoft has released a video which shows a new map editing tool for the "Halo 5: Guardians." The map editing tool is called the Forge which was introduced to "Halo 3" in 2007. The video that was posted by the company came ahead of the game's scheduled launch date this month, a report from Gamespot said on Wednesday.

According to the report, the Forge Mode for "Halo 5: Guardians" won't be available during the Oct. 27 launch. It was said that the game's map editor will be available this December as a post-release content.

"More than just a map editor, Forge allowed players to collaborate with one another and create brand-new, unique experiences in a multiplayer session. For the first time, friends could test a map live while it was being built. This empowered creativity allowed for rapid iteration and led to the discovery of all sorts of happy accidents," said 343 Industries via "Halo's" official website.

"For Halo 5: Guardians, we knew we wanted to take a giant leap forward with Forge. The creativity of the Forge community knows no bounds and our goal was to give them more power and control than ever before. We wanted to remove as many constraints as possible so they can create high quality maps that rival the ones that we are shipping with the game," the statement further reads.

Microsoft said that after the release, Forge mode will be supported as a regular ongoing service. The company further claimed that it has no plan of charging for the ongoing service. The company also disclosed that the game's future updates to the service will introduce some new features based on players' feedback.
