‘Far Cry Primal’ Release Date: Game’s New Details Revealed; Features Massive Beasts Such as Woolly Mammoth and Sabertooth Tiger

Game developer Ubisoft has recently released new details about its upcoming video game, "Far Cry Primal." The game is said to be a first-person shooter series where players assume the role of Takkar and explore the "savage Stone Age."

The company has announced that the game is expected to be available on Feb. 23, 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and in March 2016 on Windows PC. The game is being developed by Ubisoft Montréal, in collaboration with Ubisoft Toronto, Ubisoft Shanghai Studio, and Ubisoft Kiev Studio, a report from Gamespot said on Wednesday.

"Far Cry Primal takes you back to the Stone Age when man was definitely not at the top of the food chain. Danger lurked around every corner during the daytime, and nighttime brought a fresh set of terrors. It is in the untamed land of Oros that you meet Takkar, the sole survivor of an ambush on his hunting group. Now on his own in a treacherous world, Takkar will face massive mammoths, savage sabretooth tigers, hostile bands of rival hunters, and countless other threats as he attempts to re-unite his lost tribe," Ubisoft said, describing the video game.

According to the report, "Far Cry Primal" is set in 10, 000 BC. It was said that the game's setting points to a period where the Earth is dominated by gigantic beasts such as the woolly mammoth and sabertooth tiger.

The game's protagonist Takkar is said to be the last hunter. Players will arrive in a place called Oros, and the goal of the game is to survive.

"The Stone Age is the perfect setting for a Far Cry game," said Jean-Christophe Guyot, creative director, Ubisoft in a statement. "Far Cry usually puts you at the edge of the known world, in a beautiful, lawless and savage frontier. The Stone Age is, in a way, the very first frontier for humankind; it's the time when humans put a stick in the ground and claimed land for their own, the time when we started climbing the food chain. That came with conflict, against other humans of course, but also against nature itself."
