Casey Kasem of the "American Top 40" fame has listed his home in West Los Angeles, California, with an asking price of $42 million. He had purchased the home for his wife, Jean Kasem as a gift in 1989.
The couple has used the home as a primary residence for a long time and has now decided to move out. They have many fond memories connected to the home. The fondest of all must be the Sea World theme party, when they converted their mediocre pool in the backyard into a beach with a lot of sand and with a whale and seals performing in the water. However, while closing down the party, the animals got a "little" out-of-hand.
"They had to drain the pool to get the creature out," Jean said to the Los Angeles Times.
According to the listing records at Redfin, the home is a12,000 square feet single-family French style mansion, sitting on 2.39 acres. The residence has seven bedrooms and 11 full and one half bathroom. Featuring hardwood floors and a variety of ceiling types including cathedral-vaulted and tray, the home is a multi-winged beauty.
Living spaces include, a formal living room, a dining room, a breakfast area, a bonus room, a family room, two powder rooms and an English-style study/library. Additionally, the home has a wet bar, separate maid quarters, a gourmet kitchen with a butler's pantry and a laundry room as well. All the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms.
Outside, the place has a private tennis court, a guest house, a cabana, a heart shaped pool that Jean replaced when the "Sea World theme party massacre" happened. Additionally, the place has a four car parking garage along with landscaped gardens.

According to the Real Estalker, the Kasem couple additionally owns 6.5 acres of vacant parcels in Lancaster, California and a holiday home in Malibu, which is apparently up for rent asking $12,000 a month.
