John Lautner Designed Garwood Residence Returns To the Market Asking $14.9 Million

The Garwood residence in Malibu, designed by famed architect, John Lautner has returned to the market with a discounted asking price of $14.9 million. The home was first listed for sale sometime back in July 2012 with a 15.9 million price tag. Failing to sell then, the property was delisted in December that year.

While Realtor.com has called the home a "trophy home" and a "romantic haven," listing records at Redfin have termed the house "a resort-style" space and an "architectural gem".

According to the Listing records, the home is a single-family, split level home located at Grayfox Street. The place offers lovely views of the mountains, woods and the ocean.

Sitting on a 1.09 acre lot, the residence is a 3650 square feet home with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Built in 1972, the home has undergone some renovations. The house features Sandstone, bamboo and tiled flooring along with large windows and doors.

Living spaces include a formal living room, a sitting room, a dining area, a family room, an office/study and a library. The home also has a modern kitchen with granite counters and built in pantry. Outside, the home has a roof top deck, a private tennis court, a carport, a swimming pool and private access to Little Dume beach.

John Lautner was a modernist architect. His famous works include the Foster Carling Residence, The Chemosphere and the Hope residence which is also listed for sale.

The mushroom shaped Hope residence was completed in 1980. The home was built to look like a volcano. The residence has a tiered visor like structures and a concrete roof that has a hole in the center that opens up to the sky and a courtyard below.
