Rebecca Pocklington reported in the Mirror that celebrity chef, restaurateur and media personality Jamie Oliver has splashed out on a £10million (or around $15 million) mansion in Hampstead.
Mark David of Variety describes that the renovated and updated 17th century Grade II listed estate spans about 5,700 square feet and has seven principal bedrooms and three full and two half bathrooms. According to the marketing materials, the main house's antique floorboards and thick moldings add historic character to the main floor which also features a panelled foyer. The dining room is likewise panelled while the formal living room leads to the backyard.
It also has a three- storey attached guest/staff cottage which comes with a full kitchen, an additional bedroom and bathroom.
A stone terrace with koi pond and fountain, a large green house and different vegetable plots are all part of the two-tiered backyard.
Camilla Turner, who writes for The Telegraph , adds that Oliver's new home is just three miles away from the £7million Primrose Hill property where he presently lives with his wife and four children. This new abode of Oliver was sold by luxury estate agents Savills. The location of this house is in the same neighbourhood where other celebrities like Kate Moss, George Michael and Jude Law also live.
Oliver started to become famous in 1999 through the television series 'The Naked Chef'. He has, since then, sold more than 37 million books about cooking.
Through the years, the renowned chef has made his campaign to change the nation's eating habits and pushed for healthier school meals. He admitted, though , last month , that his campaign for school dinner has not been successful as good eating is still seen as an indulgence among the middle class and that making the children eat healthy food is still a privilege to the affluent people, making the working class suffer even more.
