Are you one of those who have the need to have all the latest tech gears released by Apple? If yes, then there is a high chance that you have already purchased their newest iPhone 6S. Just a quick reminder to all who have purchased the new iPhone 6S and at the same time have an old iPhone and an Apple Watch, you might want to unpair and back up first your Apple Watch before resetting your old iPhone.
This step is necessary if you plan to have your Apple Watch in seamless transition from your old iPhone to your new iPhone 6S. To do this, just follow the quick and easy steps below.
You can only pair your Apple Watch to a new iPhone if you already unpaired it with your old iPhone. To avoid losing any valuable data, before you reset your old iPhone, be sure to unpair and back up first your Apple Watch.
Here are the steps on how you can unpair your Apple Watch from your old iPhone:
1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
2. Select Apple Watch under the "My Watch" menu.
3. Authorize the unpairing.
The unpairing process may take up some time because your Apple Watch will back up its contents to iCloud.
To pair your Apple Watch to your new iPhone after being unpaired to your old iPhone, select the most recent iCloud backup of your Apple Watch to restore the device.
According to Apple Insider, the back up does not include credit or debit cards on Apple Pay, playlists synced to the device, the passcode lock, or Bluetooth pairings. However, these are the things that can be stored in your back-up:
- App-specific data and settings, such as Maps, distance and units.
- General system settings, such as your watch face, known Wi-Fi networks, brightness, sound, and haptic settings.
- Health and Fitness data, such as history and achievements.
- Workout and Activity calibration data from your Apple Watch, and user-entered data. (To back up Health and Fitness data, you need to use iCloud or an encrypted iTunes backup.)
