David Copley's La Jolla Mansion for Sale

The La Jolla mansion which belonged to David Copley, the late publishing heir and publisher of the San Diego Union-Tribune, has gone on sale for $7.95 million, according to reports.

The luxurious property, nicknamed the Foxhole, is a property among a handful of Copley homes that have hit the market as part of the settlement of his estate. It is in this home where Copley hosted lavish benefits and holiday soirees for San Diego's elite. Copley died of a heart attack in November last year at age 60.

The Foxhole home, on Virginia Way and Ivanhoe Avenue, is the latest asset for sale. The property was initially a small home when Copley purchased it in the 1970s. It eventually expanded into a roughly 15,300-square-foot mansion after Copley bought and worked in neighboring lots, public records show. It was dubbed Foxhole, inspired by Foxhill, the name of his mother's La Jolla mansion on Country Club Drive.

The mansion comes with seven bedrooms, nine full bathrooms and three half-baths, high ceilings, chandeliers, fireplaces, a veranda party room and pool courtyard.

Five of the properties have been listed with a total asking price of nearly $20 million, based on listing information. Foxhill, the La Jolla estate that belonged to Copley's mother, is expected to hit the market soon.
