Book author Veronica Roth just released a limited collector's edition novel for the upcoming movie "The Divergent Series: Allegiant." According to Chicago Tribune, the book contains 48 pages of bonus content, including some excerpts from Natalie Prior's diary.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Roth spoke about one of the deleted scenes from her book which is called "Strike First, Strike Hard."
"It was really difficult to cut this scene from 'Allegiant.' I originally had an entire section where Tris, Tobias and the others reunite with the rest of the Dauntless - a kind of quiet rebellion in which they assert their choice to stay a faction no matter what the factionless say," she said.
Roth also said that Peter's vulnerability was supposed to be shown in that deleted scene.
"And this moment that Tris has with Peter was a part of it. It showed some of Peter's vulnerability as well as how much Tris has changed since he first tormented her in this dormitory. She is stronger now, but harder too; not all of the lessons she has learned are good ones," she added.
Meanwhile, Roth explained why she decided to remove the Dauntless section. According to her, it was deleted because it kind of slowed down the plot when what she really needed to do that time was to speed it up.
"But I cut the Dauntless section because it slowed down the plot when I needed it to speed up, and with it went Tris and Peter."
"The Divergent Series: Allegiant" will continue to chronicle Tris and Four's life as they struggle to save the rest of their people. The film also stars Miles Teller as Peter, Ansel Elgort as Caleb and Kate Winslet as Jeanine.
"The Divergent Series: Allegiant" is slated to hit theaters in the United States on Mar. 18, 2016.
