"Reign" Season 3 Predictions: More Power Struggle, Romance, and New Characters

The Trailer for "Reign" Season 3 features a unsettling prediction. "Scotland's Queen will fall," Catherine De Medici (Megan Follows) confidently proclaims at the end of the clip.

"Reign" Season 3 premieres tonight and there are a few things that fans have deduced from the 40-second teaser.

"Reign" Fans are already aware that Queen Elizabeth has always been determined to de-throne her cousin Mary. With what Catherine De Medici has said, it looks like Elizabeth has the upper hand even before the battle has begun, according to TV Line. Therefore from the clip, the fans are assured that Season 3 revolved around a lot of chilling politics and power now that Mary will be going up against two contemptuous queens. Now that Francis is ailing, who else would she rely on?

On the other hand, it is being predicted that "Reign" Season 3 will have more focus on Mary and Francis and some romantic drama amidst the political struggles. With the two queens conniving against Mary, then of course it would make sense for the show to revolve a lot around Mary and her efforts to protect her throne. But while Mary's throne will always be at stake, the fans also see more of the romance between Mary and Francis since they will be united in the third season, according to Design and Trend. Moreover, with his sickness, Mary and Francis are predicted to spend more time together on screen knowing that Francis can die at any moment.

Lastly, fans can expect to see new faces. According to Design and Trend, the introduction of Queen Elizabeth in season 3 would also mean new characters from her Elizabethan court. In the trailer, fans were able to catch a sight of Martin de Lambert, who will be played by Saamer Usmani. But there will be more new faces. Tom Everett Scott will join the cast of "Reign" as William who will by Queen Elizabeth's trusted advisor and counselor. Mary will be entangled in a love triangle as Robert Dudley's wife Amy will join season 3.
