'Iron Man 4' Release Date & News: Robert Downey Jr. Needs To Be Replaced As Tony Stark?

Fans of "Iron Man" will be pleased to know that there's hope for the film to push through.

However, according to Crossmap, the producers of the film are only open to the idea if Robert Downey Jr. will be replaced as Iron Man/Tony Stark. Just recently, Downey Jr. also slammed rumors that "Iron Man 4" is still a go, but fans believe that there's reportedly still hope for the popular Marvel superhero film.

Meanwhile, there are rumors that the 49-year-old actor will be replaced by actor Ty Simpkins, who previously appeared in "Iron Man 3" as Harley Keener. However, Cinema Blend thinks that it's impossible that anyone could replace Downey Jr. in the franchise, especially by a 13-year-old actor.

"Despite his impressive resume, it's a stretch to imagine that Marvel Studios believes he has the presence and charisma to replace Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. Especially since there's an argument to be made that if Robert Downey Jr. hadn't been cast as Tony Stark, then Marvel wouldn't have achieved their subsequent success," the publication wrote.

In other news, the publication added that it's more viable if Marvel will allow Downey Jr. to go on a long break before deciding on whether or not they will push through with "Iron Man 4."

Meanwhile, fans of Downey Jr. are divided when it comes to their stand on the actors' fate in the franchise. Some believe that it's time for Downey Jr. to give up his Tony Stark title, while others believe that he should still star in another movie.

As of late, Marvel executives haven't confirmed or denied rumors that there will be "Iron Man 4."
