"Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 aired the episode titled "I Choose You" on Thursday night, and it focused on Jo's (Camilla Luddington) discovery about Alex's (Justin Chambers) past. Early on in the episode, Jo discovered that Alex had his embryos frozen a few years back when he was still married to Izzie (Katherine Heigl).
Jo couldn't help but wonder how Alex never talked to her about having kids, when it seemed that he was ready to have his own during his relationship with Izzie. When she finally had the chance, Jo spoke with Alex about the thoughts that were playing in her head. For Jo, Alex not talking about having kids with her meant that he's not ready to settle down. However, Alex believes that whatever decisions he made in the past are no longer important.
After fighting briefly, the couple reunited in the episode, and they realized that even if they are both ready to settle down, they are not ready to have babies of their own, according to TV Line.
Meanwhile, the episode also focused on Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) trying to get an increase for her new position at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. According to Design & Trend, Meredith was surprised to find out that she's getting a much lower salary compared with Callie (Sara Ramirez) even if she's the new chief of general surgery.
Later on in the episode, it was revealed that Dr. Bailey (Chandra Wilson) purposely wrote a small amount for Meredith so she learns to assert herself and know what she truly deserves. So after reaching out to Dr. Bailey for a change in her salary, Meredith left the office with a satisfied look on her face.
