'Derek Fisher' Had a Fistfight with Former Teammate 'Matt Barnes' Over Ex-Wife

When you hear that NBA players had a fight, you would somehow immediately conclude it's about basketball. But what happened between former NBA player and now New York Knicks coach Derek Fisher and his former LA Lakers teammate Matt Barnes somehow involves no ball and is off the court. According to the report of nydailynews, Knicks coach Derek Fisher was attacked by Grizzlies forward's Matt Barnes while Fisher was spending a romantic time with Barnes' estranged wife, Gloria Govan.

Fisher took a punch in the mouth during a backyard skirmish with Barnes who got infuriated after learning that his former teammate was wooing his ex-wife, Govan, at a party inside a Los Angeles home where Barnes once lived. The fight between to NBA hoopster only ended when one of Barnes' sons pleaded with them to stop the fight.

Barnes told nydailynews that a FaceTime chat with one of his child alerted him about the situation. Barnes in his statement via nydailynews stated that;

"I could see him and the look on his face. I was like, 'What's wrong, Carter?' and he shook his head 'No.' Then he lays his head down on the couch, puts a pillow in front of his face and says, 'Mommy's friend Derek is here.'"

A source also disclosed via realgm that Barnes after learning the incident decided to drive 95 miles to LA to "beat the s-t" out of Fisher. Realgm's source stated that;

"Derek was in Gloria's backyard with about 10 people having a bonfire on Saturday," said a source. "Derek's separated from his wife and there's a relationship with [Gloria].Barnes was in Santa Barbara [at Memphis Grizzlies training camp] and heard that Fisher was in his house. He went crazy. He got in his car and went to the house and went after Fisher."

This incident was confirmed by Redondo Beach police spokesman Lt. Joe Hoffman. However, they left the scene after talking with the persons involved and after determining that there is no basis for legal charges.

And for the former LA Lakers point guard and now Knicks coach, Derek Fisher, he commented that, "I'm basically done talking about the situation directly. The process is the process. It'll play out. But as far as me commenting on it, I won't be."
