Matthew Modine Unloads Chelsea Home for $2 Million

Mathew Modine of "The Dark Knight Rises" fame has reportedly unloaded his condo unit in Chelsea, Manhattan, for just $2 million. Located at 420 West 25th Street, the condo is a duplex apartment, which Modine first listed in September 2012 for around $2.3 million.

Modine purchased the home in 2008 for around $1.8 million.Looks like the home has sold for a slight discount from its asking price.

The home has been purchased by Karim Tartoussieh, a New York University student who was apparently looking for a two bedroom home since December 2012 in the range of $1.5 to $1.8 million, reports The New York Observer.

Built in 1912, the home spans a 1668 square feet area, comprising of one bedroom and three bathrooms. According to the pictures, the home is a lovely spacious and airy residence with floor-to-ceiling windows and hardwood and carpeted floors.

On the lower level, the home has a formal dining or living room, a bedroom with large walk-in closets and two en-suite bathrooms and a modern gourmet kitchen with built-in custom cabinets. The upper level has a huge recreation room, a laundry, a bathroom and an open terrace as well.

When Modine listed his home in September, he decided to do something interesting rather than just hauling it on the listing market. He shot a video where he narrates the whole listing. Maybe the "Joker Effect" really rubbed off on him! The video won a Halstead award for getting around 50,000 hits.
