"Forget the cameras, forget the media, who cares what anybody else says - this is your life."
This is the advice Missy Robertson has for Jill and Jessa Duggar. During an interview with People, the striking similarities between their family and the Duggars were raised. The Robertsons did not shy away from sharing their thoughts about the Duggar sisters, who are set to return to TLC later this year, amidst the pressing controversies.
"We've never met them before, but my advice to anybody would be, you know, you've got to look within yourself," Missy told People. "You've got to make decisions for yourself and forget everyone else."
Jase added, "We've talked about forgiveness and consequences for your actions. That's just something that they're gonna have to deal with."
The Robertsons of "Duck Dynasty" have more than one thing in common with the Duggars. Aside from starring in their own reality show, the family is also no stranger to controversy. In 2013, their show was suspended when Jase's father Phil made controversial comments regarding race and homosexuality. In addition, they also dealt with infidelity in their family, when Lisa admitted cheating on Jase's brother Alan.
In a separate interview with Entertainment Tonight, Missy and Jase recalled this painful revelation.
"Lisa was running around on my brother and I was like, 'Al, cut her loose.' He chose to forgive her and welcome her back, and I was mad about that for probably about three or four years," Jase recounted. "In their case, it worked out. She has really turned into a great woman of God."
In the same interview, Missy and Jase also weighed in on Josh Duggar's infidelity against his wife Anna, and shared the same view that forgiveness does not mean staying married.
"As far as the relationship, that's gotta be her decision whether or not she wants to go on without him," said Missy. "She certainly has that right, because he interrupted their marriage with those affairs, but forgiveness is not really a choice, you know, if you want forgiveness from God."
"You can forgive somebody, but that doesn't mean there's not consequences for your actions," Jase added.
Missy and James are promoting their newly-released book, "Blessed, Blessed...Blessed," out in stores now. Aside from family anecdotes, it narrates the inspiring story of their 12-year-old daughter Mia, who was born with a cleft lip and palate.
