Disney Reveals ‘Ant-man 2’ and A Movie Line-up That Does Not Belong to the ‘Star Wars’ Franchise

Disney announced a line-up of movies it is planning to release in the next five years. Surprisingly, they do not belong to the "Star Wars" franchise which the company now owns.

The "Star Wars" movie franchise is now owned by Disney and understandably, the company wants to make as much money as it can which is evident in its plan to release one title each year for at least the next five years kicking off with "The Force Awakens" before the year ends. According to Geek, aside from "Star Wars" films, the sci-fi hit will also be integrated into Disney's theme parks which would explain the move to make all those "Star Wars" titles.

Meanwhile, included in the same report by Geek, Disney is also doubling down on its efforts to produce hits for two of its major acquisitions - Pixar and Marvel Studios. For Marvel, "Ant-Man" is going to have a follow-up which will be called "Ant-Man and The Wasp." The film is slated for a July 2018 release and will feature returning stars Paul Rudd in the title role and Evangeline Lily as "The Wasp."

Year 2018 figures to be a busy year for Marvel as "Black Panther" and "Avengers: Infinity War" are also scheduled for release. Another Marvel favorite "Spiderman" will get another reboot that will most likely be shown in 2017 if the casting of Tom Holland as the new "Peter Parker" is any indication. It was also mentioned that the current thrust of Disney to make live-action adaptations of its fairy tale classics is still in high gear with the upcoming "Jungle Book" and "Beauty and the Best."

Meanwhile, according to Variety, Pixar is planning the release of "Cars 3" in 2017 while the much awaited sequel to "The Incredibles" is expected to hit theaters in 2019. "Toy Story 4" has been moved from a 2017 release to 2018.
