'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' Premiere & Spoilers: The Crazy One Is In

"Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" Season 1 Episode 1 "Josh Just Happens to Live Here!" will premiere on Monday, Oct. 12, at 8 p.m. on The CW.

According to IGN, the musical comedy-drama series revolves around the life of a successfully driven yet crazy young woman named Rebecca Bunch (Rachel Bloom) who has finally everything in her hands or so she thought.

After meeting her summer ex-boyfriend Josh (Vincent Rodriguez III) 10 years later, she left everything behind on an impulse. Rebecca dropped out of a coveted law firm position in Manhattan for a risky adventure in West Covina, California in hopes of getting Josh back.

"Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" had a crazier journey before finally finding its home in The CW. The series was created by the show's lead star, YouTube sensation Rachel Bloom and "The Devil Wears Prada" writer Aline Brosh McKenna with the help of "500 Days of Summer" helmer Mark Webb as the pilot director and executive director.

According to Deadline, the series was first developed for Showtime. With few big names attached, it was a surprised that the network abandoned it. The CW picked it up, but the series went to some redevelopment to be catered for broadcast TV. However, "Crazy Girlfriend" continues to prosper as it was given a one-hour format rather than the original 30-minute plan.

US News provided new details about Rachel Bloom, the newest darling of The CW after the success of "Jane The Virgin" and its star, Golden Globe award-winning Gina Rodriguez.

The 28-year-old breakout star also works as an actress, comedian and as a writer including her stint in "Robot Chicken." Aside from it, she was known as a YouTube sensation for making and starring in various satirical online videos. Some of her well-known videos include "Historically Accurate Disney Princess Song" and "You Can Touch My Boobies."

The all-female masterminds behind the series, Bloom and McKenna, provided details about the title and the show's entire premise.

"There's a reason it's not called 'My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.' That implies it's from the point of view of a man," McKenna said. "We don't want that sort of distancing thing: 'This is a crazy (expletive).' Instead, it's what it's like to live inside romantic obsession."

"It's almost a comment, really, on romantic comedies," Bloom said.

"Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" Season 1 will premiere on Oct. 12, at 8 p.m, and will air on Mondays on The CW.
