The New York Comic Con (NYCC) 2015 is considered as a heaven-sent for TV fans as the cast and crew of "The Shannara Chronicles" dishes out some of the latest details we've been waiting to hear!
TV Line and Deadline reported that MTV, the show's home network, finally answered the wish of every fan of "The Shannara Chronicles" with an update and a brand-new trailer.
MTV announced that the series will premiere on Jan. 5, 2016. Not only that, it will surely start with a bang as it was given a special 2-hour first episode.
Moreover, MTV's newest offering unveiled the most-awaited trailer during the event. The 30-second teaser trailer kicks off with the wonderful views of the fictional world of the Four Lands. The camera then pans out to a swamp, a toppled moss-covered tower, a glimpse on a two horse riders near a shore, a deserted dry land.
The video continues with the appearance of Austin Butler's character in full costume and the introduction of the other "Shannara" casts. The scenes started to become action packed as new scenes shows few battles between the protagonists, flying knights and lastly, gargoyle-like monsters.
"The Shannara Chronicles" is based on the best-selling fantasy series of the same title by Terry Brooks. Set in the distant future, it follows the journey of three young elves in the Four Lands. They are on a mission to save their land by restoring the mysterious tree of Ellcrys.
The TV adaptation of the book series stars young actors Austin Butler ("The Carrie Diaries") as Wil Ohmsford, Ivana Baquero ("Pan's Labyrinth") as Eretria and Poppy Drayton ("When Calls The Heart") as Amberle. They are joined by other cast members including John Rhys-Davies from the "Lord of the Rings" and "Spartacus" cast member, Manu Bennett.
Developed by showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar ("Smallville"), the 10-episode fantasy drama series also has Brooks, Jon Favreau, director Jonathan Liebesman, and Dan Farah as executive producers. It is produced by MTV and Sonar Entertainment.
