"The X-Files" is back for what will essentially be its 10th season and the first episode was shown in New York Comic Con 2015. Excited fans applauded the debut but left many of them questioning why the show's producers decided to separate Mulder and Scully.
It's been more than 10 years since "The X-Files" was last seen on television and movie goers saw "The X-Files: I Want to Believe" movie way back in 2008 which is the last film made from the hit alien conspiracy series. According to Forbes, the much anticipated comeback of one of the longest running television shows in the history of network TV is happening in January 2016. However, lucky fans who joined the festivities in New York Comic Con this year were given a huge surprise when the pilot episode of "The X-Files" was shown.
In a report by Mashable, executive producer Chris Carter is taking flak for his move to split Mulder and Scully in the upcoming revival of the "The X-Files." Footages were released in August which showed the two protagonists fighting about their separation which fans of the show did not take too kindly. Carter said of his decision, "They're not living under the same roof and that was a conscious thing," he said. "Mulder and Scully have had their difficulties."
Carter also explained that for him it was crucial to show the audience that the series can stay true to the passage of time. He said he wanted to point out to fans that Mulder and Scully are not exempted from the woes every couple experiences. Kumail Nanjiani, the moderator for NYCC agrees with Carter. He said he likes the idea that characters do not freeze in time even though it has been a decade since people saw the last episode of "The X-Files."
