In the upcoming new season of "Elementary," Sherlock will not be able to talk his way out of unemployment as his stint with the NYPD is coming to an end.
In the recently held New York Comic Con, executive producer Robert Doherty along with the stars of "Elementary" Jonny Lee Miller, Lucy Liu, and John Noble discussed what happened to the show as season three winded down and what fans can expect for the upcoming fourth season.
According to IGN, the final episode of season three showed Sherlock in a very dark place as he succumbs to his heroin use and addiction. He also brutally beat Oscar a former drug dealer who worked for him. According to Doherty, the next season will pick up where it left off and there is a very real possibility that Sherlock will go to prison.
This development will make his consultancy contract with the NYPD void and he will take down Dr. Watson with him into the pits of unemployment. However, in a trailer shown for NYCC audiences, it looks like Holmes will get a break landing a temporary gig with the FBI. The biggest announcement for the series is the addition of "Morland Holmes" who will be played by John Noble. Morland is Sherlock's father and according to the show's producer, Morland will be among the newly invented characters for the show that will not be based on any of Arthur Conan Doyle's stories.
Meanwhile, in a report by Entertainment Weekly, John Noble talked about his character Morland and how he raised Sherlock. He pointed his hand towards Miller and said, "It's not so uncommon that a genius child is eccentric, you know?" He also added, to the delight of the crowd, "It's interesting just having [Sherlock] be annoyed and flustered. I think he's expecting more reaction to his disdain for his father ... but it doesn't go anywhere for him, Morland never really takes the bait, so he's pretty frustrated."
