On Monday, a famous tech tipster released a series of photos via Twitter, which reportedly are images of a dummy unit of HTC One A9. The leaked photos have surfaced more than a week prior to HTC's slated media event on Oct. 20. It was said that the company's upcoming smartphone will be released next month, a report from iDigital Times said.
"The history of this device is laced with confusion, which started when company co-founder and CEO Cher Wang told stockholders back in June, to expect a new Hero device. Suddenly, we were hearing about a phone called the Aero, which many assumed was a high-end device. That characterization was helped by a benchmark test showing the handset powered by MediaTek's MT6797 SoC, and its deca-core CPU," Phone Arena said.
According to the report, the rumored HTC One A9 is expected to feature a 5-inch screen with 1080 x 1920 resolution. Inside the phone is a Snapdragon 617 SoC which features an octa-core CPU and Adreno 405 GPU. The phone comes with 2 GB of RAM, along with 16 GB of expandable storage.
In terms of the camera, the phone is said to be equipped with 13 MP rear-facing snapper that has an OIS as well as the 4MP Ultrapixel camera. A 2150mAh battery will reportedly power the device longer.
The leaked photos also show a fingerprint scanner and a home button in front. The phone will be pre-installed with Google Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
According to another popular phone leaker Evan Blass, the rumored HTC One A9 is expected to become a "mid-range" smartphone which is far from the previous rumor that it will be a "Hero" device. However, all the rumored details about HTC's upcoming smartphone are not yet confirmed. Interested users will have to wait to hear from the company in their annual media event scheduled this month.
