'New Girl' Season 5 Spoilers & Cast News: Megan Fox Doesn't Care About Fans' Negative Reactions Because Zooey Deschanel Supports Her Casting On Show

"New Girl" Season 5 will introduce a new character named Reagan, and she will be portrayed by actress Megan Fox. After FOX announced their decision to tap the "This Is 40" actress, fans immediately expressed their negative reactions to the casting online.

Twitter user @katelynhopper wrote, "Megan Fox is filling in for Zooey Deschanel on the next season of New Girl, so in other words let me find a new favorite show."

Another user, @vicallaire, tweeted, "How are they going to replace Zooey Deschanel with Megan Fox for season 5 of new girl what kind of monstrosity is this?!"

Twitter user @kennaguttery added, "Disappointed is an understatement for how I feel about Megan replacing Zooey on New Girl."

@little moon wrote, "So they are replacing Zooey Deschanel w Megan Fox on New Girl's season 5. I hope they rethink and immediately kill this idea."

Meanwhile, "New Girl" executive producer Liz Meriweather released a statement following the backlash they received for saying that Fox will temporarily replace Deschanel on the show while she's on maternity leave. According to Meriweather, fans just have to accept their decision to cast Fox because she's a very funny actress after all.

"It's insane to me that such a gorgeous person can be so funny, but I guess we just all have to accept it. I've been a fan of her comedic skills since 'This Is 40,' and I'm so excited to have her on the show," she told Deadline.

In other news, Fox reportedly doesn't care about all of the negativities surrounding her casting because Deschanel supports her as part of "New Girl" Season 5, according to Inquisitr.

"The lovely and amazing @meganfox will be on #NewGirl season 5!" Deschanel tweeted.

"New Girl" Season 5 will premiere on FOX sometime next year. The production for the upcoming installment will begin this month.
