‘Reign’ Season 3 Spoilers: Showrunner Says King Francis Will Die

"Reign" season three will find King Francis' death imminent and showrunner Laurie McCarthy explains why she spilled the beans on what will happen in the new season of the show.

The upcoming third season of "Reign" is coming on Friday but showrunner McCarthy has decided to tell fans ahead that King Francis will definitely die. She explained that she wanted audiences to get used to the fact since there is no way for the writers to get around it. She said "We've already done shocking deaths and that's not the tone of this story."

According to Entertainment Weekly, McCarthy said she wants the season to be an emotional ride that she and the audience can share together, from the highs to the lows. She also mentioned that she wanted it to be a love story without shocking fans. She added, she wants to process the whole experience too just like viewers would.

She went to say that by revealing early what would happen, the show will break many hearts but it will not leave anyone reeling. She also thinks that it is better for her to reel with fans and be with the characters as they try to accept and process the whole ordeal. She added that she loves Francis very much. She said, "I love that character and I love Toby [Regbo] so I just couldn't imagine doing it any other way."

It was also mentioned in the interview that actor Regbo who plays Francis knew what would happen to his character right from the start but when it would happen he had no clue until the third season was shot. In a report by TV Line, the show's premiere on Friday figures to be a bitter-sweet affair especially when the tender moments of Francis and Mary are shown.
