We all want a home that's pretty, clean, and organized. In today's terms, we call it the "Pinterest-perfect" or "Instagram-worthy" home. House-cleaning is always at the top of our things-to-do, but chances are, it always gets pushed down. The kids need help with their homework. The dog needs to be taken to the vet. Grandma comes for an unnounced visit. By the time we are free, our energy is spent.
Thankfully, just as we use Pinterest and Instagram to drool over perfect homes, there are apps to help us achieve that. Taking a cue from LifeHack and Time, we've added a few apps to come up with a curated list of user-friendly apps that will help us efficiently organize our homes, so we can have more time for other matters. Everything in the list is available for both Android and iOS.
1. Brightnest
"Keep your home in great shape without breaking a sweat! From basic maintenance to cleaning tricks to home decor ideas, we deliver everything you need to shape up your home and simplify your life," the app's description proudly states.
This free app is an all-in-one home organization tool. It gives out cleaning tips and DIY guides such as how to clean the fridge or how to fix your toilet--the easy way. Furthermore, it's also a scheduling app. You can input tasks and it will remind you when they need to be done.
2. Chore Checklist
For the homemaker who is obsessed with lists, Chore Checklist is the master of all lists. This app not only records things-to-do's, it also keeps track of their completion date and calculate the next due date based on your preference. It comes with a daily, weekly and monthly calendars, plus other customizable calendars.
Chore Checklist is free, but you can get the full version for $1.50, which will unlock multiple task lists.
3. Fairshare
Faireshare puts the cool into the otherwise boring task of endless chores. Perfect for families, this app allows household members to interact with one another by listing out tasks and giving assignments to each family member. To make it more fun, each task is assigned points. The family can make chores a competition, and reward whoever gets the most points after a week.
Fairshare also has a shared grocery list, which family members can manage separately. They can add items that have just ran out, or tick off the ones already bought.
4. MagicPlan
You've done your chores, cleaned your home and stocked up on groceries. Now you can think of other possibilities for your home. A small renovation, perhaps? This app lets you visualize your home makeover projects without you having to move heavy furniture around. Simply snap a photo of a room, add paint and furniture from its data, and imagine a new look for your home.
5. Unfilth Your Habitat ($0.99)
Consider this a "boot camp" app for maintaining cleanliness. This app will literally drag your feet to keep your house clean by giving out snappy, military-like instructions.
"Clean the inside of your oven. Wipe down the front of the oven and de-scuzz the stovetop. Wipe down the venthood," it will alarm and nag until you check the list off. Perfect for lazy days, because everyone needs tough love sometimes.
With a little help from technology, we can make the most of our time and have more energy for the things that matter. Have other apps to add to this list? Comment below!
