NBC's respected TV series "Law & Order" creators are always known for taking inspiration from the latest news headlines. So it is no surprise if their next episode will be like the Duggars.
That particular "Law & Order: SVU" episode will be aired on Nov. 4 on NBC. According to USA Today, the episode will be loosely based on a reality TV family whose family values suddenly become questionable following an outbreak of sex scandals. Sounds familiar, right? But the show will include a few twists and some fictional plots to make it more fascinating. And to cover their tracks, they will most likely include a disclaimer saying any resemblance to actual persons or actual events is purely coincidental.
On the other hand, a disclaimer might not be necessary. The Twitter account for the show has proclaimed, "Law & Order: SVU Will Take On the Duggars in a New Episode."
This episode will be titled "Patrimonial Burden." Speaking of the twists that "Law & Order: SVU" is giving the episode, according to Cosmopolitan, this "fictional" reality TV family with 10 children will be slapped with some hurtful truths when a 13-year-old daughter gets pregnant. In the real world, Josh Duggar has admitted that he had molested some girls including his sisters as a teenager.
It seems that the "Law & Order: SVU" creators have the Duggars in mind for some time now. Back in September, during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Warren Leight said, "It never ceases to amaze me how stupid some men in power can be, and so we'll be writing about [that]. Over the summer, there were some very public stories about religious families with problems at their core, and we might take a look at that."
Last month, "Law & Order: SVU" premiered with a two-hour episode that was based on the Robert Durst case and this week, the episode "Community Policing" revolved around a NYPD Police officer shooting an unarmed black man. A story similar to the Duggar's is too big to miss and "Law & Order: SVU" will feature that next month. How do you think will the Duggar family react?
