Bandai Namco may have confirmed that "Tekken X Street Fighter" will indeed happen but the company has yet to announce a release date to appease impatient fans.
For the relief of the avid fans of the arcade-style fighting game, "Tekken X Street Fighter" that will feature characters from both Tekken and Capcom's Street Fighter was confirmed that it was still in development and rest assured not cancelled, according to Ubergizmo. The confirmation reportedly came from the Japanese game producer and director Katsuhiro Harada from Bandai Namco Entertainment.
In an interview with Famitsu in July, Harada has reiterated that the "Tekken X Street Fighter" is at its far stage of development already and that the polygon models, moves, and systems are already finished. In addition he admitted that Pokemon Tournament and Tekken 7 might have caused the delay. He also added that the game deserves its own spotlight.
Up to now, there is still no word as to when "Tekken X Street Fighter" would finally be released for PS4, Xbox One and arcades.
In a recent report by KPopStarz, it was mentioned that the game's released might come as a surprise based on Harada's words during the July interview.
"It's very difficult to talk about," he said. "Obviously, I had originally planned to release it much earlier than we're currently looking at."
"People have been talking about the game for such a long time that they aren't going to be surprised if you just release it normally. I don't know if that's what we have planned, but we do plan to have some kind of surprise."
This argument does seem to support Harada's idea of giving "Tekken X Street Fighter" its own spotlight.
With Bandai Namco still working on Tekken 7 for PS4 and Xbox One and Pokemon Tournament for Wii U, which both are said to be released in 2016, "Tekken X Street Fighter" fans might have to wait a little longer. Can you think of any other possible reasons for the delay?
