John Mayer, the "Man on the Side" singer, reportedly revealed his "philanthropist" side when he headed over to Shreveport, Louisiana, to help with a new home building project initiated by close friend, Pink Floyd founder, Roger Waters, and the Bob Woodruff Foundation for military veterans.
According to E Online, Mayer lent a helping hand to the locals to paint the newly built homes. He wore dark green trousers, a blue button-down shirt with a matching blue bandana and got his hands all dirty in paint.
All the painting is a part of the Veterans Build 2013 campaign to provide homes for veteran military soldiers and officers who return from combat. Mayer had previously donated proceeds from his 2012 tour to help the former servicemen, reports Contactmusic.com.
"You'd be surprised how quickly you take value in your work when you start putting the first couple of brush strokes down. All of a sudden, I feel like we have a common goal in getting this house, at least on the paint side of things, to be as good as it would be if a professional came in and did it. It's personal," Mayer said to the Shreveport Times.
Maybe this is just one of the ways Mayer is dealing with his split from ex-girlfriend, Katy Perry. Perry had also recently embarked on a "charitable" journey to Madagascar in support of UNICEF where she met abandoned and abused children and learnt a lot about a nation recovering from crisis. Perry tweeted pictures from her trip with UNICEF stating that it was a "life changing" event, reports HLNTv.com
"In less than one week here in Madagascar, I went from crowded city slums to the most remote villages and my eyes were widely opened by the incredible need for a healthy life -- nutrition, sanitation, and protection against rape and abuse -- which UNICEF are stepping in to help provide," Perry said to The Metro.
More recently, Perry was spotted mingling with some A-list celebrities like Sophia Vergara at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.
