"Live Unexpected" and "Ringer" alum Kris Polaha has joined the cast of "Castle" as Caleb Brown who will add some spice in the workplace as he will go toe-to-toe with NYPD Captain Kate Beckett (Stana Katic).
According to TVLine, who have learned exclusively about Polaha's casting, the actor will play as an idealistic public defender. He will be in clash with Beckett because of his criminal clients. As if the captain doesn't have enough on her plate, having recently broken up with Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) and searching for Bracken's partner.
Kris Polaha will debut in "Castle" Season 8 later in the fall. He thanked ABC and Castle via Twitter, saying he is honored to be part of the show.
Meanwhile, speaking about the breakup, co-showrunner Terence Paul Winter told TVLine that, "We have a real plan for how to guide through this new path, and we really do believe it's going to be something that will be satisfying overall." He added, "If people give us a chance, they're going to really - hopefully - appreciate the journey we're going on."
When it was promised that things in "Castle" will be shaken up, fans thought what it means to Rick and Beckett. Nathan Fillion told TVLine that fans shouldn't be worried. The changes are necessary in order for the show to continue and the story to move forward. Fillion promised it's going to be great. Fillion also said showrunners Winter and Alexi Hawley reassured him that "what was going was they wanted to get back to a time when people were rooting for the couple, rooting for them to get together, to do something."
When asked if this is going to be the last season of "Castle," Fillion said "never say never" with fingers crossed.
"Castle" Season 8 airs every Monday on ABC, 10/9c.
