All New Ford Focus RS Update, Features, Specs: Perfect for People Who are Bad at Driving Stick

Ford's latest Focus RS is the perfect car for hot-hatch enthusiasts as it features 350 horsepower on tap, a dedicated drift mode, and an all-wheel drive. In a new press release, the car company says that the RS will be equipped with a new feature called "stall recovery." If you stall the engine, it automatically restarts itself.

According to The Verge, stall recovery is advantageous for some reasons. One, it's perhaps an acknowledgment that people simply don't have much experience driving cars with a manual transmission anymore, and the RS is only available with a manual.

Focus RS is the latest car unveiled by Ford "as part of a new golden age of Ford Performance," but this is not the golden age of knowing how to drive stick. Good thing this Focus RS is looking out for you.

Ford's new Focus RS is finally heading on the road. The car will come with a 350 lb-ft torque to all four wheels and 350 hp, as well as with the standard six-speed manual and a unique torque-vectoring system. The RS is said to hit 60 mph in 4.7 seconds.

There's no doubt that the Focus RS is a rocket ship, its all-wheel-drive is capable of delivering a zero-to-60 mph time of well under five seconds. And it will come standard with a six-speed manual gearbox.

Car and Driver said the 2.3-liter engine of the RS has been altered from the version that powers the Mustang, with a new low-inertia twin-scroll turbocharger, along with a revised cylinder head and stronger cast-iron cylinder liners. RS features a "free revving top end" -- that doesn't sound like the Mustang EcoBoost -- with a maximum rev limit of 6800 rpm.

The first generations of the RS were only sold in Europe and never made it to the U.S., but the new car will be coming to the States. The RS will be built at the company's Saarlouis plant in Germany, where manufacturing is set to start by the end of the year.
