Facebook does not want you to leave its app, even for shopping.
Known for continuous innovation, Facebook is testing the waters on an anticipated in-app e-commerce in order to compete with Amazon Inc. The tech giant will be releasing several ad features that will allow users to shop directly inside the app.
In an effort to make mobile phones the center, not just for social matters but for also for business, the company will smooth the shopping process in its app. An ad will be able to take the user to the brand's products without even leaving the app. In simple words, the products will be listed in Facebook instead of the usual linking to the brand's sites or Amazon page.
Businesses, on the other hand, will be able to display their products on their Facebook pages that will have a 'buy now' button available. It also had rolled out 'Shop' sections on small businesses' pages.
"We're looking to give people an easier way to find products that will be interesting to them on mobile, make shopping easier and help businesses drive sales," said Emma Rodgers, Facebook's head of product marketing for commerce.
In addition, a blog post from the company states, "On Facebook we've seen that people are coming to our platform not only to connect with friends and family but also with products and brands."
Facebook has been exerting a lot of effort into making itself a major part of our world which, of course, will drive more businesses to take advantage of the scenario. The company knows that with the growing number of users, a lot of money can be raked in if they capitalize on making the mobile app look more advantageous to the users, which of course is to their advantage, too.
Are you excited to shop on Facebook? What are your thoughts on the in-app shops that they are rolling out?
