Is Benedict Cumberbatch the New James Bond?

Benedict Cumberbatch was every inch a head turner when he walked into the "Black Mass" gala screening last Sunday, Oct. 11 in London. The English actor looked dapper in a suit and tie as he made his way through the red carpet. According to BBC UK, Cumberbatch did not escape the press who hounded the actor with questions related to being the new James Bond.

These speculations come after the current Mr. Bond, Daniel Craig, has told Time Out that he'd "rather slit his wrists" than do another Bond film. The upcoming 007 movie, "Spectre," is Craig's fourth time to play the role.

Does Cumberbatch think he could fill in Craig's shoes? While the actor said it would be "fun" to play the iconic British spy, he expressed his apprehensions.

"I can wear a suit and I can fight. I can raise my eyebrow but that's not what it takes to play Bond," he told the press. He added that after "Spectre," the producers might want to go into "different directions" in choosing the next 007 agent.

If the 39-year-old actor did take up the role, the current Bond has these words of advice for him. "Don't be shit! Go for it. Embrace it," Craig said in his Time Out interview. "Make sure you're great. You've got to push yourself as far as you can. It's worth it, it's James Bond."

"Spectre" hits cinemas on Oct. 26. Other actors who have expressed their interest in the legendary role are Tom Hiddleston, who is widely known for his role in the "Thor" movies as Loki, "Homeland" actor David Harewood, and African-British actor Idris Elba.

Meanwhile, Cumberbatch is set to take on the role of "Dr. Strange" in the upcoming Marvel adaptation. His movie "Black Mass" has just been released in the U.K. theaters.
