Ghost Recon Wildlands To Be Released With An Open-World Setting Says Ubisoft

The last time Ubisoft had released a game in the Ghost Recon series was in 2014 when "Phantoms", a Tactical shooter game, for Microsoft Windows emerged. The next installment is Ghost Recon Wildlands and for the first time, it will be released in an open-world setting. According to Examiner, Ubisoft is not known to do quite well with open-world games. Its developer Ubisoft Paris though is optimistic that this venture into the open-world setting will be a real game-changer for the series, publisher and industry.

Senior Producer Nouredine Abboud of Ghost Recon Wildlands has told Examiner.com, ""What is for sure is the game is massive and the quantity of work we've put into it is massive. Of course you can have the feeling that things have moved very fast, but the things we have in mind is that every step is like a long step. It's really important for us to be a co-op, open-world, military shooter. This should change the way you look at how you play that sort of game, and that's what we're happy about. It's a big change for Ghost Recon and it's a big change for Ubisoft. We feel like it's a real change for the gaming industry as far as all military shooters go,"

Moreover Abboud has assured the Ghost Recon fans that it is not going to be just another Ubisoft open-world game created for the sake of an open-world. Ghost Recon Wildlands Creative Director Eric Couzian has explained to Examiner why the game would be different. "We've spent over three years making this game and took the core elements of the previous game and tried to bring it to larger maps to see what happened. We had some playtests with four-player co-op to see how they interacted and what was important. We also made some prototypes with the trees to see what types of tactical things they created. Then based on how people were reacting, we got to think about how we can extend this little bit in order to make a larger one."

For those who have missed the trailer, you can watch it below. "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands" is said to be released in 2016 PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows.
