Good news to the fans of the Middle East-set drama "Tyrant". FX has renewed the show for a 10-episode third season.
According to Variety, Season 2 of "Tyrant" averaged 2.47 million total viewers and 1.05 million adults 18-49 based on Live+7 but surprisingly viewership picked up this summer during the last weeks of the second season of "Tyrant". The people behind this show are showrunner Howard Gordon, Glenn Gordon Caron, Chris Keyser, David Fury, Gideon Raff, Avi Nir and Hugh Fitzpatrick.
An optimistic Eric Schrier said, "'Tyrant's' second season took the show to a new level thanks to the skill and direction of Howard, Chris and Glenn and their creative team, the exceptional cast and a story steeped in family, loyalty and intrigue.
"We look forward to the next chapter and a sensational third season of 'Tyrant,'"he added. The announcement was made together with Nick Grad, his fellow president of original programming for FX Networks and FX Productions.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show received some serious criticism because of the violent rape scene in the pilot that was too cringe-worthy for most viewers. Director Gordon believes that it was unfortunate for fans to have been turned off by that scene because the show had so much to offer. Gordon also has insisted that 'Tyrant" has been well-received within the Arab community.
According to Deadline, Starring Adam Ryner, as Barry Al-Fayeed, Jennifer Finnigan as Molly Al-Fayeed and Ashraf Barhom as Jamal Al-Fayeed, Tyrant is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions. "Tyrant" is about "an unassuming American family is drawn into the workings of a turbulent Middle Eastern nation".
"Tyrant" will get its third chance to show TV viewers that it has a compelling drama worth tuning into. There are no details about when production will start but the third season is slated to air in FX in 2016.
