Which Tiara Will Kate Middleton Wear to the State Banquet at Buckingham Palace?

Kate Middleton has only a week to prepare herself for her inaugural appearance at the state banquet at Buckingham Palace. She will be required to wear a tiara and it will be her third time to don a sparkly royal ornament on her head. The public could not help but speculate which tiara she would be wearing.

She will be most likely sitting in a noticeable place in the grand u-shaped table in a ballroom of around 170 guests, according to USA Today. Making appearance in the state banquet, where the Chinese leader Xi Jinping is also invited on Oct. 20, is part of her royal duties. As part of tradition and protocol, it is a must for Duchess Kate Middleton to wear a crown and usually the crown is lent by the Queen.

According to The Daily Mail, Kate Middleton has worn the Cartier Halo Tiara for her wedding in 2011. In the second time she appeared with a tiara at the Queen's annual diplomatic reception at the Palace in 2013 she wore the Papyrus Tiara which belonged to Princess Margaret. This third time that she will be donning a tiara, many speculate that she would be choosing the Spencer Tiara as a tribute to Diana, Princess of Wales. The Spencer Tiara is the same tiara that the mother of the Duke of Cambridge wore at her wedding to Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales. It has an elaborate design of stylized flowers and diamonds on silver. The tiara however was said to have once given Diana a headache because she was not used to wearing it.

Kate might also choose to wear the Cambridge Lover's Knot Tiara which the Queen gave Princess Diana as a wedding gift in 1981. This diamond and pearl-encrusted tiara made in 1914 by Garrard and designed by the Queen's grandmother Queen Mar, is the tiara that the late Princess often wore. But of course she could also most likely wear the Cartier Halo Tiara which she is already familiar with and most probably find comfortable to wear.
