The fourth season of "Arrow" premiered last week and the final scene of the first episode was a major cliffhanger to all its viewers - flash forward six months into the future, Oliver was standing in front of a grave and Barry Allen of "The Flash" was with him apologizing that he missed the funeral. Oliver even vowed to kill "him" - probably the killer of whoever is in that grave.
The big question is: Who is in that grave? USA Today said that the premiere episode's theme and Barry's appearance seem to suggest that it could be Felicity. Seriously? After all that she and Oliver went through just to be together? No, it can't be. It just can't be Felicity.
As Bustle put it, Felicity means hope for Oliver and she brings balance to "Arrow." Oliver didn't want to return, but Felicity did, saying that fighting crime gives her life purpose. Her presence is what keeps "Arrow" from being all dark.
While her death would really be emotionally devastating, more than enough to cause Oliver to kill again, TVLine says there is small likelihood that she'll be killed. For one, Felicity is Jewish and won't have a gravestone until a year after she died. And the show has a great percentage of viewers who are "Olicity" fans.
Unfortunately, whoever is in that grave will be dead for good, executive producers Marc Guggenheim and Wendy Mericle told Entertainment Weekly. "It's not a fake-out," Guggenheim assured. "We don't necessarily know who it is right now," Mericle clarified. "We're still figuring the plan out for the season, but we wanted to have resonance. If it doesn't mean something to the characters, it won't mean anything to the audience either."
The possibility is still there and Felicity's demise would really shake things up, what's with Oliver planning to propose now. Could it become a major push for Oliver to bring HIVE down?
