Jennifer Lawrence has dropped out of 'The Rosie Project' which is being developed by Sony's Tri-Star Pictures. However, in the early talks with Darren Aronofsky, she is going to star in his mystery indie project. It is not clear yet when that project would start filming.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Richard Linklater is going to direct 'The Rosie Project' which is an adaptation of the book by Graeme Simsion and script by Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber.
'Rosie' has been tailored to the voice of Lawrence. The immediate priority of the studio now is to recast the role.
This is the second project of Lawrence that she has dropped. The first one that she previously vacated is The Glass Castle, a drama at Lionsgate, but she remained as producer to this film.
Lawrence, who fumed about pay inequality between men and women, is now done with her X-Men contract, after having wrapped her third movie, X-Men: Apocalypse, this summer. He also has her final Hunger Games movie, Mockingjay Part 2, opening Nov. 20
As the actress has been going from movie to movie, her break could be in order.
Lawrence will star also in David O. Russell's 'Joy', which Fox opens on Dec. 25
Collider said Jennifer Lawrence is going to finish filming Passengers, Morten Tyldum's follow-up to The Imitation Game. She will also be leading Stephen Spielberg's "It's What I Do" sometime soon after.
'The Rosie Project' would have likely been Lawrence's next film, but it will go on without her, as Sony is now scrambling to find an actress to replace her.
