Syfy has cancelled the fantasy drama "Dominion" after its second season. This is a supernatural series inspired by the 2010 movie, "Legion," and created by Vaun Wilmott, according to Deadline. The action drama was set 25 years in the future, the time after the war between angels and mankind transformed the world.
According to Variety, "Dominion's" rating dropped in Season 2. It only averaged a 0.25 rating in adults 18-49 and 880,000 total viewers on the same night viewing which is down about 40 percent compared to Season 1.
As for its second season finale last Sept. 24, it only averaged around 520,000 adults 18-49 (0.41 rating) and 1.19 million total viewers in Nielsen's live plus-3.
Syfy said in a statement, "Led by Vaun Wilmott, the talented cast, producers, writers and crew of 'Dominion' have done a tremendous job bringing this ambitious, cinematic series to the screen over the past two seasons. We thank them, as well as our producing partners Universal Cable Productions, Bold Films and Film Afrika."
The series is starred by Christopher Egan, Tom Wisdom, Roxanne McKee, Alan Dale, Anthony Stewart Head and Luke Allen-Gale. Scott Stewart, who directed and co-wrote "Legion," directed "Dominion's" pilot last 2013. He is also the exec producer of the series.
Meanwhile, Syfy is coming up with top new projects which include "The Expanse" starring Thomas Jane and "Childhood's End," a six-hour event series which is an adaptation of Arthur C. Clarke's classic novel, both will debut on Dec. 14. Charles Dance, Mike Vogel, Daisy Betts, Yael Stone, Julian McMahon, Osy Ikhile and Colm Meaney will star in "Childhood's End." Other anticipated projects are "The Magicians" which is based on Lev Grossman's novels and "Hunters" which is a thriller.
Syfy is also in the works for a future project with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck entitled "Incorporated."
