After almost a year of being untouched on the market, the Manhattan home formerly owned by publishing magnate William Randolph Hearst was finally bought by T-Mobile CEO John Legere at $18 million, The Real Deal reported.
The property was originally listed for $27.5 million back in November 2014, but had numerous price cuts months ago, settling on an $18 million price tag in July 2015 when Legere bought the opulent apartment.
Said apartment has lovely views of the Central Park with a 1,600-square-foot space that includes a "wood-burning fireplace, herringbone floors, hand-carved wood doors, stained glass windows and a private terrace," 6sqft reported.
The listing defines the penthouse as “Once in a generation!" It has four bedrooms and four bathrooms featuring an elevator that opens directly into a “stone flagged entry foyer” which leads to the interior gallery that is also connected to the living room, kitchen and dining room/solarium.
Its corner living room has 16 feet by 31 feet dimensions, adorned with rich oak burnsall paneling and with an 11.5-foot plaster ceiling. An Elizabethan-style fireplace which is handcrafted in wood is also featured in the living room, where a 1,600-square-foot terrace can be accessed.
In the dining room, beautiful stained glass decorates the space as well as tall archways and a panoramic view of the park. Its kitchen was updated with a pantry and private access to the west terrace. Meanwhile, on the second floor, there is a library tower featuring a 14.5-foot-high ceiling. A large master suite and the three other bedrooms are also located on the upper level.
The apartment was said to be under contract by fashion designer Giorgio Armani but it was relisted by the Corcoran Group, Elle Decor reported. This famous property in 91 Central Park West itself was built in 1926 by Schwartz and Gross Architects.
