'Assassin's Creed' Movie: Big Details Revealed

As time goes by and the release of the upcoming Assassin's Creed movie starring Michael Fassbender slowly approaches, new details emerge.

According to Gamespot, Ubisort Motion Pictures CEO Jean Julien Baronnet said during an interview with French Magazine Premiere that video game movies are not always the best in terms of quality. He believes he knows how to break from such tendency because of the reasons that he believes would set "Assassin's Creed" different the other video game titles that made it to the big screen.

In the interview that was translated by Den of Geek, Baronnet had explained that video game movies have been made by major studios that don't understand video game culture or companies who think just because they created the game they also knew how to make the film. Therefore, "Assassin's Creed" will be different because it will be created autonomously and not under the name of a Hollywood studio.

Moreover, Baronnt said, "We told Fassbender that we were going to build the project together, that we have an enormous brand and we want to make a film modelled on features like Batman Begins or Blade Runner. That's what we're aiming for. We promised him that he could work with the scriptwriters that we were going to bring him into all the key creative choices."

Ubisoft Motion Pictures will be partnering with New Regency for the "Assassin's Creed" movie but Ubisoft will retain control of the "Key Elements" of "Assassin's Creed," according to Gamespot.

Baronnet has also revealed that unlike the game which focused on the past, the movie will be based on its sci-fi angle and will be split between past and present. Thus, the fans will see that Fassbender will be playing two characters from two different eras.

It was also revealed that "Assassin's Creed" which has a production budget of $150 to $200 million will target three sets of audiences: the fans of the game, the fans of movies like "Star Wars" and "Spiderman" and those who never would have thought would see a film like Assassin's creed.

"Assassin's Creed" starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard is scheduled to hit theaters in December 2016.
