Skarp razor has promised an innovative way of shaving using laser. The team behind the laser razor has launched their campaign in Kickstarter, a crowdfunding site, to garner funds in producing their product. However, Kickstarter has banned the project after it raised $4 million pledges from its supporters.
According to bgr.com, the Skarp campaign got banned in Kickstarter after they conducted an investigation due to the project's popularity. Kickstarter sent emails to the project's backers stating that the Skarp team failed to present a working prototype of the razor.
Part of an email from Kickstarter says that "We've concluded that it is in violation of our rule requiring working prototypes of physical products that are offered as rewards," and that "suspensions cannot be undone."
Despite of Kickstarter's premise of Skarp's lack of working prototype, the Skarp team has uploaded a video showing their razor in action but the video itself showed that the razor needs more developing to effectively cut hairs using laser.
According to slate.com, the working prototype of Skarp's laser razor shown in their demo video seems to be not high- quality enough for Kickstarter's standards thus resulting to being ban from the website. As shown in the video, it's true that the laser razor can cut hairs but the razor seems to be unpractical to use for everyday use since the video itself took quite some time to shave a few hairs.
The team behind Skarp's laser razor didn't give up their fight as they transfer their crowdfunding project in another crowdfunding website, the Indiegogo. After launching and continuing their campaign from Kickstarter to Indiegogo, the team is able to raise more than $100,000 in its first ten hours. With their campaign that started in Kickstarter, the team aims to raise $160,000 to finance their project but pledges and donation reached $4 million already and now another $100,000 from Indiegogo.
Though other backers are now getting doubtful with the project due to Kickstarter's decision of banning it, many others are still believing that Skarp's laser razor will be a huge success.
