When Zayn Malik quit One Direction in March, it was one of the most shocking One Direction 2015 news that hit the headlines. Malik apparently didn't leave One Direction because he wants to be a normal 22-year-old. On Wednesday, Liam Payne cleared in an interview with "Good Morning Britain" that it was not exactly the case.
The 22-year-old singer appeared on the morning show with 1D star Louis Tomlinson and claimed that Malik left the band because of the band's choice of music. Payne said that among the band members, Malik was the only one with a different taste in music, Daily Mail reports. He implied that One Direction and Malik don't blend together, which pushed the former British singer to leave his bandmates.
"One Direction was never really Zayn's kind of bag, if you know what I mean," Payne said. "His taste in music was a bit different, and I guess that's kind of what drove him to do what he did in the end, which is not necessarily a bad thing," according to Hollywood Life.
Payne also said that when Malik left the group, it was a "disaster" for them. However, he reassured fans that in the end, everything went well.
"Everyone's come out fine from it, thanks to our beautiful fans. And he's off doing what he loves as well, so both parties are winners in the end of a disaster of a situation. It's all good," Payne said.
Meanwhile, another surprising One Direction news is the band's rumored split. The four remaining band members of 1D, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Tomlinson and Payne, are on their final leg of "On The Road Again Tour." Their performance will end on Oct. 31, and they will be finally taking a break, as what has been previously announced in August.
During the same interview, Tomlinson admitted that their group are planning to have a little lad's holiday. He confirmed that they can't tell how long their break would be because they don't want to put pressure on themselves, Mirror reports.
"We are really appreciating every show we do now, every single moment. But this isn't the end of One Direction," he said.
