Nintendo News: Dev Says New Mobile Game Will Be Announced Soon

A new report has surfaced on Thursday saying that Nintendo's new mobile game will be announced soon. The news comes after DeNA West CEO Shintaro Asako teased fans this week during the GamesBeat 2015 conference.

It can be recalled that both Nintendo and DeNA, a famous mobile game studio, had sealed a partnership earlier this year. Since the partnership was publicly announced, avid fans have been waiting for new information about Nintendo's mobile game.

According to iDigital Times, Asako spoke about its partnership with Nintendo but he did not provide specific details about the upcoming mobile game.

"Soon, we should be able to announce the game," Asako said, according to VentureBeat. "I can't say too much about the Nintendo deal, but it's a really exciting initiative."

"Though Asako didn't give away any details about this game, he confirmed that it remains Nintendo's plan to launch five new smartphone/tablet games between now and March 2017. This plan has not changed in the wake of former president Satoru Iwata's death this summer. Overall, Asako described DeNA's partnership with Nintendo as a really long-term initiative," Gamespot said.

Back in August, Nintendo executive Scott Moffitt explained why all of a sudden the company wants to get in the mobile gaming industry.

"We can't deny the massive install base of smartphones out there, and some fans that aren't old enough yet to afford their own gaming console, perhaps for those consumers they can start to appreciate some of our content and build a relationship with some of our characters and our franchises," Moffitt said, according to the report. "We feel it's going to be an additive to our console business."

It was said that Nintendo's mobile games will be developed by a team under the supervision of Hideki Konno. Konno is said to be a veteran producer of Mario Kart.
