Laraine Newman Finds Buyer for Los Angeles Home

A couple of months ago, "Saturday Night Live" star Laraine Newman landed on celebrity real estate news when she decided to have her long-time Westwood house listed for $2.549 million. The 1930 Spanish-style residence, which, according to Lauren Beale's article in the Los Angeles Times, was bought by the veteran comedienne in 1979 for $279,000, was made available on the market with an asking price of $2,549,000. Yesterday, Mark David of Variety broke the news that the L.A. property of the original SLN cast member finally got a buyer. After it appeared up for sale some months back, following one cancelled escrow and the price cut to $2.495 million, it is now put into escrow once more with an unknown buyer at an undisclosed price.

David relates that the three-storey home, perched on a slightly elevated .15 acre lot, has an area of 3,108-square-feet and features four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Marketing materials further describe that many of the original architectural details of the house, such as the scalloped archways, tiled fireplace, wood flooring and cove ceiling have been preserved. Two sets of French doors border a built-in bookcase and connect the living and dining rooms, while more French doors lead to a small terrace facing the high buildings along Wilshire Boulevard. The kitchen has tile and granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances .On one of its side is the small dining room with a 1950s dinette set, a big center island and a mini family room complete with an entertainment unit.

The guest room on the ground floor is being used by Newman and her husband ,actor Chad Einbinder, as their den/office with its terra cotta tiled floor and French doors once more opening up to the backyard. Two more guest/family rooms, also with vintage tiled bathrooms, are found on the second floor. Located on the same floor is the master suite with a small sitting area, a small office that doubles as a dressing room and a renovated bathroom which features a double sink vanity, a soaking tub with claw feet and a separate shower stall.

The backyard is not that big and is notably without plants. It has a flagstone and gravel terrace, a dining ramada and a swimming pool with waterfall and an inset spa.
