Dolly Parton Cancer: Singer Denies Stomach Cancer Rumors, Confirms She Had Kidney Stones

Does Dolly Parton have cancer? A report published this week claimed that the 69-year-old was diagnosed with stomach cancer.

According to Entertainment Online, the country music icon was immediately taken to a hospital due to her debilitating disease, which the National Enquirer claimed as cancer. However, Parton was quick to dismiss the rumors.

On her own Dolly Parton website, the singer dished details on her busy career and the opening of her new Dollywood's DreamMore Resort. Parton also addressed the cancer rumors, claiming that she only had her kidney stones removed.

"It is true that I had kidney stones. I had them removed three weeks ago and I am doing just fine! I am back to work and last week I was at Dollywood filming parts for my new movie 'Coat of Many Colors,' which premieres December 10th on NBC. With the 30th Anniversary of Dollywood, I did a full week of activities promoting my new DreamMore Resort's opening. There is absolutely no truth at all that I have stomach cancer. I love and appreciate everyone's concern."

Parton's cancer rumors started in September when Eagles singer and founder, Don Henley, told the press that  Parton left her hospital bed to finish his new music video "When I Stop Dreaming." During an interview with Nashville's WKRN, he said that the "I Will Always Love You" singer went back to the hospital right after working for the video shoot.

Parton is a country singer from Tennessee. She began her career as a child performer on the "Cas Walker" radio show. She started recording songs when she was 13 and began writing songs when she was 18.

She became popular for her performance with singer Porter Wagoner, which led her to record her first album and series of hit tracks. Since then, she has recorded numbers of famous songs, including "Here You Come Again," "9 to 5," and "Islands in the Stream," to name a few.
